Key 5 - BREATH AND DIVINE UNION
Deep breathwork is a beautiful practice, it can be profoundly transformational and inspiring…. AND it can be quite challenging - physically, emotionally and mentally. It is most important to be safe and unencumbered throughout your journey and always remember the choice of love is here and now.
If you have any concerns about your ability to participate due to physical, or mental issues, please feel free to reach out to us for support and know that all of what we share is optional and not a requirement.
*All results of your participation in this work are your sole responsibility. Your wellbeing is up to you, be sure to monitor yourself and your safety.
Breathwork can bring up deep emotions and traumatic memories, which is a profound gift to be realized, processed, and released - yet if at any time the experience is just too much for you, feel empowered to slow down your breath and take care of your wellbeing. Calm down, slow down, exhale more slowly. Ask for help from your deepest inner Being. Remain present with all the sensations that arise.
“You have to keep breaking your heart until it opens.” ~ Rumi
*It can be very valuable to follow up this work with a one-on-one session.
Prepare for your Breathwork Journey
- Use your journal to explore your deepest intentions for the Journey and delve into how this relates to Divine Union for you – after the work, continue journaling through the weeks to come for integration and embodiment support. Keep your journal next to your bed and be sure to watch your dreams.
- Have your ‘breathing’ area prepared to lay down with pillows at your sides for comfort and safety in case your body is activated to move about (perhaps a couple yoga mats or camping pad)
- Be sure the area is free from objects that may constrict you or be unsafe to you.
- Avoid a thick pillow under your head, as it impedes the ability to breathe deeply. Laying mostly flat is best, as long as you are comfortable and supported safely. A thin pillow under the neck or head is fine as well as support below the knees.
- If you have a Bluetooth speaker, sound bar / wireless headset / earbuds… this will allow you have better sound quality for your journey – high volume is recommended for the Journey.
- An eye mask is a nice option to help you stay ‘within’ and deepen your experience.
- Have a blanket at hand as you may feel cold at some point during the process.
- While there is a video of inspirational images and Sacred Forms, this is provided as an energetic field of Divine Support for your journey, yet it is not necessary nor recommended to view the images during your breathwork. Staying within is highly recommended.
Your Breathwork Journey Experience
- You may experience strong body sensations - dramatic increase in your energy level - or you may feel sleepy and need to change your position to remain active. Breathing belly down on all-fours, or on your knees is an energizing and safe alternative. Raise your torso with each inhalation and lower it with each exhalation. Allow the spine to move freely along with the breath and explore the movement freely.
- “When the world pushes you to your knees, you are in a perfect position to pray”. – Rumi
- You may feel inspired to dance, yet I suggest remaining safe by staying on the ground to ‘dance’ and allow the energy to flow through you.
- It’s best to go to the bathroom before you start - if you do need to get up during the process, be very careful – take your time as you may feel dizzy, lightheaded or disoriented – sit up for a while before you stand - you can even crawl to the bathroom if need be.
- You may feel a tightening or numbing in parts of your body - remain calm, slow down your out-breath….and it shall pass.
- Remember your intentions and that Divine Union is always present and accessible.
